Knocked-out tooth

First aid: knocked-out tooth

  • Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root
  • Gently rinse if dirty
  • Try to place it back into the socket
  • Otherwise store it in milk or saliva
  • Contact our office immediately

Broken tooth

First aid: broken or chipped tooth

  • Rinse your mouth with warm water
  • Save any broken pieces if possible
  • Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling
  • Schedule an emergency appointment promptly

Toothache

First aid: toothache

  • Rinse with warm salt water
  • Gently floss around the affected tooth
  • Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gums
  • Contact our office for an evaluation
